The Germanic Realms in Pre-Carolingian Central Europe, 400-750 complements the scant historical and ethnographic information left by the classical authors about the peoples of the «migration» period in Central Europe with extensive archeological evidence. This allows additional conclusions about what the people valued, what their sense of style was, how they felt about one another, where and how they lived, and from what they suffered and died. We can even deduce something of their beliefs. By examining their settlement patterns, funerary practices, material cultures, myths of origin, and their Christianization, this book presents a complementary picture of their individual characteristics.
